The three-stage media targets free chlorine, chlorination by-products like trihalomethanes, volatile organic compounds, sediment, and some heavy metals. Carbon handles the organics and taste-and-odour compounds; KDF-55 handles chlorine and metals; calcium sulfite works on chlorine in hot water, where carbon alone is less effective.
Our standard ACF filter won't soften water on it's own - hardness is dissolved calcium and magnesium, and no carbon filter can remove it

Unscrew the faceplate anticlockwise, remove the old cartridge, drop the new one in, screw the faceplate back on. No tools, no plumber.
